The following letter to the editor from David McMahon has been published in a Sunday edition of "The Journal" newspaper in Martinsburg, West Virginia:
Send Kump back to the Legislature
David B. McMahon,
J. D. Attorney at Law
Charleston
Your readers are fortunate to be able to vote to re-elect Delegate Larry D. Kump to the West Virginia Legislature in the upcoming primary election.
I know that I am not from your county. But the view of someone who has been on the inside of the Legislature should be particularly valuable to your readers. Over the years I have lobbied the Legislature about the rights of surface owners and small mineral owners when the oil and gas drillers come calling, about consumer issues like used car warranties, about improvements in divorce courts and laws, and so on. I have done these things as board president of a statewide consumer organization and as a lawyer for the little guy. I even once worked for the Legislature as a lawyer drafting bills for the legislators.
I have had the privilege of working with Delegate Larry D. Kump on some of these issues since he has been elected to the Legislature. He has an amazing and varied work history that gives him more background than any other Delegate when it comes to making policy decisions. Delegate Larry D. Kump listens hard, thinks hard, makes his own decisions, and then he works hard to do what is best for your readers in his district and the State of West Virginia. I understand lots of money will be spent against him. When you see that money spent your readers should think do they want to vote for who has the most money or who is most qualified to be Del
Our state and our state government have problems. We have those problems because there are not enough legislators like Delegate Larry D. Kump in the Legislature from other parts of West Virginia. I urge your readers to vote in the upcoming election to send Delegate Larry D. Kump back to the Legislature! I will be good for your readers and for the rest of West Virginia.
Personal footnote and postscript from Delegate Larry D. Kump-
